The Yoga Instructor’s Course (YIC) is a comprehensive training programme designed to introduce the foundational principles and practices of Yoga to individuals seeking personal well-being and those aspiring to teach Yoga professionally. Rooted in the philosophy of “Wellness through Yoga,” this course blends theoretical knowledge with practical training to help participants develop a holistic understanding of Yogic practices and their application in daily life.

Duration:
  • Total Duration: 3 months (300 hours of learning)
  • Maximum Completion Time: 1 year

Applicants must have completed at least the 10th Standard (or equivalent) from a recognized educational board.

Objectives

  • To provide for instructions and training in Yoga and Spiritual lore as propounded by Swami Vivekananda, the famous Indian monk who heralded the grandeur of Sanatana Dharma (the Laws of Creation) in the West through his epoch-making speech in the Parliament of Religions on Sep 11, 1893 for total Personality Development
  • To provide for research and for the advancement and dissemination of all the streams of yoga and its applications to offer solutions for major challenges of the Globe
  • To undertake extra-mural studies, extension programs and field-outreach activities to contribute to bring Peace, Poise, Harmony, Love, Health & Happiness
  • To do all such other acts and things as may be necessary or desirable to further the objectives of the University

For Indians and SAARC Nation Participants YIC fees is as under :

  • Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees Thirty thousand only per participant) for Dormitory Accommodation subjected to availability.
  • Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty thousand only per participant) for a 3 sharing Accommodation subjected to availability.
  • Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty thousand only per participant) for a 2 sharing Accommodation subjected to availability.
  • Rs. 60,000/- (Rupees Sixty thousand only per participant) for a Single occupancy Accommodation subjected to availability.

For Foreign Nationals :

  • $ 2500/- (USD Two thousand five hundred only per participant) for a Single occupancy Accommodation subjected to availability.
  • $ 2000/- (USD Two thousand only per participant) for a double occupancy Accommodation subjected to availability.
  •  YIC FEES excludes QCI fees. QCI fees to be paid extra if needed.

I. Title of the Programme: The programme shall be called " Yoga Instructor’s Course" (YIC)
II. Aim of the Programme: The aim of the programme is to spread "Wellness through Yoga"
III. Objectives of the programme

  • To introduce basic principles and practices of Yoga to common people
  • To bring awareness of the fundamentals of Yoga for wellness in their daily lives
  • To bring peace and harmony in the society at large by introducing the Yogic way of life.
  • Become eligible for the certification process from Yoga Certification Board under MDIYN.

IV. Duration

  • The duration of Yoga Instructors Course is 3 months and 300 hours of learning
  • The maximum duration of the course is 1 year.

V. Eligibility: The candidate should have completed 10th Standard from a recognized board or equivalent.
VI. Medium of Instruction: English

  • The course shall be called Yoga Instructor’s Course abbreviated as YIC
  • There will be six intakes in every calendar year on the 1st of every month, January, March, May, July, September and November of every year.
  • The examination for the subjects shall be conducted at the end of programme as per the evaluation scheme of ODL.
  •  The minimum duration of the course will be 3 months and the maximum duration will be 12 months
  • The classes will be conducted through online for 3 months in which the last week of the 3rd month will be PCP at the campus.
  • The calendar of events in respect of the course shall be fixed by the Admissions Committee from time to time.
  • PCP Schedules are subject to change.

Refund and Cancellation
  • Fee paid is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • In case the students do not finish the programme in the current batch, registration will be carried forward to the subsequent batches on payment of per Semester Tuition Fees.
  • If students do not finish the programme within stipulated maximum duration, their registrations will be considered cancelled.
  • The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in High School and Higher secondary Programmes
  • Any reservations / special privileges may be given as per Governmental norms.

Admission Criteria and Progression at DDE, S-VYASA

ADMISSIONS AND ELIGIBILITY: The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in High School and Degree Programmes. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Group I shall be considered eligible for admission if they have passed the qualifications obtaining not less than 40% of marks in aggregate ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Each semester is considered as a unit and the candidate has to put in a minimum attendance of 90% in each subject with a provision of condonation of 10% of the attendance by the Director on the specific recommendation of the Course Coordinators on the reasons such as medical grounds, DDE level sports and cultural activities, academic matters such as seminars, workshops and paper presentations.

The basis for the calculation of the attendance shall be the period prescribed by the DDE according to its calendar of events The students shall be informed about their attendance position periodically so that the students shall be cautioned to make up the shortage. GRADING SYSTEM: The student will be assigned a grade in each course based on his or her combined performance in the sessional work and the final examination. Cumulative Grade Point Average: Based on the grades obtained in all the subjects registered for by a student, his or her Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated as follows:

Cumulative Grade Point Average: Based on the grades obtained in all the subjects registered for by a student, his or her Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated as follows: CGPA = Sum of (No. of Credits X Grade Point) ----------------------------------------- Sum of No. of Credits CGPA is rounded off to the second decimal place CREDIT WAIVER/TRANSFER: Exemption from a Subject A student seeking exemption from a subject should apply to the Dean of the Department, stating reasons within 3 days of registering for the course. A student who has applied for exemption of a subject should continue attending the classes for the subject until the result is declared. He/she could discontinue only if exemption is granted. DROPPING OF SUBJECTS: A student may in consultation with his or her adviser and instructor, drop a subject on or before 7 days of registering for the courses. A student may register again whenever the offer in the subsequent semester for that subject which he/she has dropped in a previous term arises. A student cannot register again, for any subject that he/she has completed and passed, for the purpose of improving the grade in that subject. The possibility of improving a grade arises only when a student fails in a subject and gets a F grade. PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT: To achieve the objectives of education, the most important aspect is the assessment and evaluation of the students. SVYASA has evolved a unique and comprehensive way of evaluating the total personality development by a combination of the ancient Gurukula system of evaluation by the Gurus or the teachers and by the measurements of the modern era of science and technology. The students are evaluated by the following tools of assessment:

a. Theoretical comprehension of the subject b. Achievements in yoga practices c. Skills of communication d. Team work performance including the organizational skills e. Teaching capacities f. Research attitudes and skills g. Transformation of the personality and h. Development of the zeal for selfless service, national awareness and spiritual growth These will be used for giving the grades of the personality assessment of the students. Assessment of the personality is done by recording the changes based on scientific measurements, assessments by the faculty, their team-work performances, self-assessments, attendance, regularity and steadiness, etc. There is continuous monitoring of their growth.

Attention to Foreign Nationals Foreign Nationals for all batches are required to bring Five passport size photographs FRRO Nearly all foreign nationals, on long term visas and foreign nationals from certain countries on any visa are subject to registration in India as provided by the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939 and Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992. Foreign nationals entering India on a Student, Employment, Research or Missionary visa, which is valid for more than 180 days, are required to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRROs) under whose jurisdiction they propose to stay. This should be done within 14 days of arrival in India, irrespective of their actual period of stay. The expenditure for the registration will be borne by foreign nationals.
