PGDYTD: Adoption of Integral Approach of Yoga Therapy for common ailments.

  • The course shall be called Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy for Doctors abbreviated as PGDYTD.
    • There will be TWO intakes in a year -January and July.
    • The course includes a three month Internship training programme which can be pursued in either of the three options mentioned below:
  • Arogyadhama Health Home at PrashantiKutiram
  • In any AYUSH centre or SVYASA associated hospitals or in any hospital setting where Yoga therapy can be administered.
  • While treating individual patients at their own clinic
    • 16 days of In-house Arogyadhama Internship is compulsory.
    • The examination for the subjects shall be conducted at the end of the programme as per the evaluation scheme of DDE
    • The minimum duration of the course will be ONE Year and the maximum duration will be TWO years.

  • The candidate should have completed Any Medical Graduation
  • The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in Degree Programmes.
  • The candidate should have completed Yoga Instructor's Course (YIC) from SVYASA

There will be Two Counseling Session (CS) conducted as per Table below:

  • The calendar of events in respect of the course shall be fixed by the Admissions Committee from time to time

  • All the participants are required to reach in time for all the programs including food. So they should start for the venue concerned as soon as they hear the bell.
  • Sincerity and regularity are part of YOGA, which helps to reap the benefit fully. Hence all programs are compulsory. No one is supposed to absent himself / herself from any program. Please take active part in the same. In case of difficulty please contact the course coordinator.
  • As Yoga brings harmony and order, let it manifest even in simple things. For example, sitting in order in the class, keeping the shoes in order, etc.
  • Always have the following things with you in the class:
  • Self-Learning Materials, One note book and a pen.
  • Please maintain silence and harmony in the campus including the dining hall (except singing and chanting).
  • Please maintain cleanliness. Your room/toilets, etc. Should be clean.
  • Switch off the lights and turn off the water taps when not needed, particularly, while leaving your room/toilets. You may take the initiative and stop such wastages wherever you see the same in the campus
  • All the valuables may be deposited with the office. Since the cloak room facility is not very large, this facility may not be provided for bulky valuables.
  • To play transistor, tape recorders, cell phones in the room or in the campus is strictly prohibited and will be viewed seriously
  • All the lights in the rooms should be put off by 10.00 p.m.
  • Participants are not allowed out of the campus until the course is completed. All necessary articles for daily use are available at the counter and for those not available you can give the name of the article with money two days in advance.
  • Use of Alcohol, Tobacco in any form, drugs or betel leaves, etc is strictly prohibited.
  • Please maintain the decorum of Ashram and conduct yourself accordingly. Ladies and Gents are not to meet each other in their rooms or residence.

  • Only laundry area should be used to wash the clothes. Bath rooms should not be blocked for washing.
  • Please do not go out of the campus.
  • Please don’t pluck flowers, or fruits. Enjoy them as and where they are.
  • NO TIPS Please.
  • Obtain valid money receipt for all the purchases, donations, payments, etc.
  • “Time and tide waits for none”. So make best use of your leisure. Use it for Swadhyaya (self-study), contemplation, etc. Avoid gossiping.
  • Please leave your suggestions in the box kept at the reception.
  • All the staff members are ready to serve. Please help us to serve you better.
  • Participants have to go for the prescribed dresses for the practice sessions. During other times you must be in as simple dresses as possible.
  • If you have any complaints regarding your health, please contact your organizer. Do not try and meet any therapists / Doctors by yourselves.
  • Gurukula way of sitting in the class room (No chair)
  • Karma Yoga leads to Moksha through the path of Action. Participate in these sessions to the best of your ability to gain the rich benefits. Serving duty during the meals sessions will be allotted to you. Utilize this unique opportunity to reach bliss through service action.


*Since all the participants have put a lot of effort, money, time and energy in taking up this sacred project of Yoga learning, it is our duty to see that the program goes on smoothly.

*We appeal to all the participants to cooperate with us for the same by following the above discipline meticulously. However, if it is noticed that the harmony of the entire group is disturbed due to one or two individuals, the disciplinary committee will not hesitate to take strong action against them.

What happens next?

Your application will be either rejected or conditionally accepted or accepted.

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, a rejection email will be sent to you within a week of us receiving the application.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, but if your documentation is not complete, depending upon what document is missing; your application will be either rejected or conditionally accepted. In the latter case you will be requested to supply the missing documents within a week. Your registration can be confirmed only after those documents are submitted. If you fail to produce the documentation, application will be rejected.

Once you have completed the application process, within a week you will receive an auto generated email after the verification process is completed. And you will be allowed to go through the subsequent steps of registration.

PGDYT Programme Frame Work

1st PCP: 7 days
1st to 7th Jan/July every year we conduct Counseling Session for a week.During which course materials, Assignments and Unit Tests will be given. There will be theory+ practical sessions and Arogyadhama orientation.

Phase- 1:
Assignment 1 and Unit Test 1: to be submitted within the first three months,
Assignment 2 and Unit Test 2: to be submitted within the next three months.
After successful submission of the Assignments and Unit Tests, you will be allowed to take Arogyadhama Internship Training.

Phase – 2:
Arogyadhama Internship Training Duration: 3 Months
Initial 16 days of In-house Arogyadhama Training at SVYASA (compulsory) and the remaining practice may be continued at your home town. A total of 40 case reports have to be submitted for successful completion of the training.
2nd PCP: Second week of Jan/ July is the Examination Program for one week.
Following this result will be announced and Certificate will be issued.

Following the Externship, you will be awarded the PGDYT certificate.

1. By default dormitory accommodation will be given. As per the current fees structure Rs. 2000/- /week for dormitory stay (which is subject to change from time to time).
2. Single / Double / Triple occupancy can be allotted as per availability.

Other Notes:

Students need to pay the semester fees and download the fees receipt after making the payment
In case if a student is not able to complete the programme due to unavoidable reasons in the current batch, registration will be carried forward to the subsequent batches on payment of the Semester course Fees. The candidate will be allowed to attend two PCPs together with a special permission from the Deputy Director by providing valid proof and reasons for not attending the PCP.
If students are not able to finish the programme within the maximum time of 4 years, their registrations will be cancelled.
In case you have changed your name and is not matching with the certificates, you are requested to submit copy of an affidavit.

Admission Criteria and Progression at DDE, S-VYASA


The candidate shall have secured a minimum of 50% of marks in High School and Degree Programmes. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Group I shall be considered eligible for admission if they have passed the qualifications obtaining not less than 40% of marks in aggregate


Each semester is considered as a unit and the candidate has to put in a minimum attendance of 90% in each subject with a provision of condonation of 10% of the attendance by the Director on the specific recommendation of the Course Coordinators on the reasons such as medical grounds, DDE level sports and cultural activities, academic matters such as seminars, workshops and paper presentations.

The basis for the calculation of the attendance shall be the period prescribed by the DDE according to its calendar of events The students shall be informed about their attendance position periodically so that the students shall be cautioned to make up the shortage.


The student will be assigned a grade in each course based on his or her combined performance in the sessional work and the final examination. Grade distinction and grade point of each grade is as follows:

Cumulative Grade Point Average: Based on the grades obtained in all the subjects registered for by a student, his or her Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated as follows:

CGPA is rounded off to the second decimal place


Exemption from a Subject
A student seeking exemption from a subject should apply to the Dean of the Department, stating reasons within 3 days of registering for the course.

A student who has applied for exemption of a subject should continue attending the classes for the subject until the result is declared. He/she could discontinue only if exemption is granted.


A student may in consultation with his or her adviser and instructor, drop a subject on or before 7 days of registering for the courses.

A student may register again whenever the offer in the subsequent semester for that subject which he/she has dropped in a previous term arises.

A student cannot register again, for any subject that he/she has completed and passed, for the purpose of improving the grade in that subject. The possibility of improving a grade arises only when a student fails in a subject and gets a F grade.


To achieve the objectives of education, the most important aspect is the assessment and evaluation of the students. SVYASA has evolved a unique and comprehensive way of evaluating the total personality development by a combination of the ancient Gurukula system of evaluation by the Gurus or the teachers and by the measurements of the modern era of science and technology. The students are evaluated by the following tools of assessment:

a. Theoretical comprehension of the subject
b. Achievements in yoga practices
c. Skills of communication
d. Team work performance including the organizational skills
e. Teaching capacities
f. Research attitudes and skills
g. Transformation of the personality and
h. Development of the zeal for selfless service, national awareness and spiritual growth

These will be used for giving the grades of the personality assessment of the students. Assessment of the personality is done by recording the changes based on scientific measurements, assessments by the faculty, their team-work performances, self-assessments, attendance, regularity and steadiness, etc. There is continuous monitoring of their growth.

Important Instructions for Overseas Students

Nearly all foreign nationals, on long term visas and foreign nationals from certain countries on any visa are subject to registration in India as provided by the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939 and Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992. Foreign nationals entering India on a Student, Employment, Research or Missionary visa, which is valid for more than 180 days, are required to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRROs) under whose jurisdiction they propose to stay. This should be done within 14 days of arrival in India, irrespective of their actual period of stay.
The expenditure for the registration will be borne by foreign nationals.
